The Jakarta Project creates and maintains open source solutions on the Java platform for distribution to the public at no charge. The Jakarta project includes libraries, J2EE frameworks, and Java based server applications.

The Commons is a Jakarta subproject focused on all aspects of reusable Java components.

Tomcat

Tomcat is the servlet container that is used in the official Reference Implementation for the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies. The Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages specifications are developed by Sun under the Java Community Process.

Apache Ant is a Java-based build tool.

Cocoon

Apache Cocoon is a web development framework built around the concepts of separation of concerns and component-based web development. It is written in Java and uses a J2EE server such as Tomcat.
