Linux in the Community
Babel Com Australia recognises that the strength of Linux and its supporting software (the GNU tools, the Apache web server, and many other items of Free and Open Source software) is founded in the community of developers, users, and community groups that encourage and support the use of Open Source software such as Linux. Because of this, Babel Com Australia has always been a member and supporter of various Linux community organisations such as the ones listed on this page.
OSIAOpen Source Industry Australia is the national industry body for Open Source within Australia. OSIA represents businesses and supports their efforts to improve their success in the Open Source marketplace in Australia. OSIA's mission is to represent Australian IT firms who support Open Source software to the community, government, and other businesses. Babel Com Australia is a founding member of OSIA and is proud to be associated with the continued success of this industry body.
Linux AustraliaLinux Australia is the peak body for Linux User Groups (LUGs) around Australia, and as such represents aproximately 5000 Australian Linux users and developers. Various staff at Babel Com Australia are associated with Linux Australia through personal membership, presentation and attendance at conferences, and membership and presentations at Linux User Groups (LUGs). Babel Com Australia has sponsored past Linux Australia conferences (LCA) and is proud to continue to support and be actively involved in this community organisation.
SLUGThe Sydney Linux Users Group (SLUG) has a diverse membership of free-software loving developers, Linux users, sysadmins, and advocates. Staff at Babel Com Australia continue to be involved in SLUG monthly meetings as well as having presented talks and discussion topics on occasion. Babel Com Australia is proud to support this grass-roots organisation. |
